ROACH SAYS PACQIUAO TO BEGIN TRAINING FOR CLOTTEY TOMORROW

By Ben Thompson - "Manny just came in. He's in great shape and he's coming to start training tomorrow, so instead of Mayweather right now, we gotta switch over to Clottey," stated world-class trainer Freddie Roach as he revealed that pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao will begin training on Monday for his March 13th title defense against Joshua Clottey. Speaking for the first time since the official announcement was made by Top Rank earlier today, Roach, who was still studying tapes on Mayweather just an hour ago, revealed the news to the OnTheGrind Boxing Team moments ago.

"I just changed tapes as we speak," Roach remarked. The world-renowned trainer was holding out hope that the Mayweather bout could still be made, but with Arum reaching an agreement to stage the bout with Cowboys Stadium owner Jerry Jones, Roach has now shifted focus to begin preparing for Clottey. "I just took the Mayweather fights out because it looks like that fight's not on right now. I mean, I was figuring out how he deals with southpaws and he does deal with southpaws a lot differently than he does with right handed fighters and so forth," Roach added as he hinted that a gameplan was already being formulated for Mayweather. "I was seeing what his habits were and what his tendencies are, so I was coming up with the gameplan and we were going to get started on it tomorrow working out."
