Antonio Margarito May Land on Pacquiao vs Clottey Card

By Rick Reeno - BoxingScene.com has been advised of the strong possibility that Antonio Margarito will make his return to boxing on the pay-per-view undercard to Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey on March 13 in Dallas, Texas. Margarito had his license revoked last February after a plaster-like substance was discovered in his hand-wraps prior to the TKO loss to Shane Mosley on January 24.

Margarito's license was only revoked for a one-year period. He plans to file for a new license very soon. I heard Top Rank would have liked to have Julio Cesar Chavez vs. John Duddy on the undercard but that fight has to go back on shelf. Chavez is still dealing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over testing positive for a diuretic, which he took for the sole purpose of losing weight prior to last November's win over Troy Rowland.

Top Rank would like to have a strong Mexican name on the card and Margarito, despite the controversy, is still a big name and people will be watching. His return, for that March card, depends on two things; his physical condition and more important - whether or not he can be licensed in time to finalize his spot on the show.
