Roach: No way Clottey will win

MANILA, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao’s chief trainer Freddie Roach said Joshua Clottey has zero chance of beating the Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao when they collide on March 13 (March 14 in Manila) at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Speaking from the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Freddie Roach said he has studied Clottey’s style and sees nothing special in the Ghanaian that would enable him to win against Pacquiao.

“I’ve seen tapes of him (Clottey). He’s not good. He’s not good. He’s got no chance,” Roach said in a TV interview yesterday.

Roach, who has a reputation of accurately predicting the outcome of Pacquiao’s fights, said Clottey would suffer the same fate as his ward’s recent opponents.

“Manny’s going to knock him out,” the bespectacled trainer said.

Roach made the statement while enjoying a break from training Pacquiao, who spent the day accommodating fans and well-wishers in the gym.

Pacquiao and Clottey will clash at the Cowboys Stadium for the Filipino’s WBO welterweight title.
